The Chicago Police Department detained the man for questioning, but later released him. No charges were filed at that time. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office declined to file charges related to the September attack, instead asking police to continue the investigation. The family retained attorney held a press conference to place pressure on the State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office to bring charges against their father\u2019s attacker. Based on media and public pressure, the State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office eventually charged the Uber driver with first-degree murder.<\/p>\n
The family intends to file a civil lawsuit against the driver and Uber for his deadly assault on Mr. Tungekar.<\/p>\n
