$9.3 Million Settlement for Surgical Error and Misdiagnosis
Our client was admitted to the hospital with end stage renal failure due to years of uncontrolled hypertension and was diagnosed with TTP (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura). While placing a catheter for plasma exchange, a hospital resident punctured the client’s subclavian vein, causing internal bleeding that went undiagnosed. He became hypovolemic and suffered a stroke resulting in brain damage and quadriplegia and now requires 24-hour medical care. We secured a settlement to compensate for the hospital’s negligence and pay for the needed care.
