It goes without saying that no surgical procedure is truly free of risk. Patient safety the top priority of doctors and surgeons in the state of Illinois but, because of the fast-paced environment in most medical facilities these days, it is not uncommon for standard safety procedures to get neglected. Surgeries require extreme focus from surgeons, doctors and all caregivers. Any lapse in attention or care can result in very serious injuries to patients. Unfortunately, thousands of people across the country suffer every year due to medical malpractice.

In another state, a woman filed a lawsuit against a surgeon over allegations that the surgeon’s errors led to the woman suffering injuries and complications. According to the claim, the woman underwent a thigh lift and breast augmentation procedure performed by the defendant. The lawsuit alleged that the surgeon removed too much skin during the thigh lift procedure.

The plaintiff claims the error caused her to develop pain and pulling in her lower extremities, as well as scarring and tenderness. Allegedly the woman had a corrective procedure performed, but she says she still experiences complications from her initial surgery. The plaintiff seeks a trial by jury and monetary damages.

When a mistake is made during a medical procedure, the patient will ultimately suffer the consequences. Those in Illinois who believe that they or their loved ones were affected by medical malpractice can pursue legal action by consulting a knowledgeable and experienced attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in rightful and much-needed compensation, as well as a sense of justice.
