Two women have sadly lost their lives in a tragic motor vehicle collision in Illinois. The single-car accident took place on a recent Saturday afternoon. Sometimes, fatal car accidents occur as a result of a driver’s carelessness, in which case, the careless driver may be held liable for the deaths stemming from the wreck.

Police said the accident took place when a sport utility vehicle was traveling east along Illinois Route 143 and suddenly swerved. The SUV then left the roadway and flipped several times. As a result, both women in the motor vehicle were ejected.

One of the women, 24, passed away at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the other woman, 35, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital. However, she also ended up passing away as a result of her injuries.

Illinois police may determine that the driver of the SUV was operating it in a negligent manner when the accident happened. For instance, perhaps she was speeding, or maybe she was driving while distracted. In this situation, the loved ones of the female passenger who died in the collision may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the driver who died in the crash. In the same way, they may sue anyone else who has an ownership interest in the SUV, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. A claim that is fought successfully might result in financial damages to cover the deceased passenger’s burial costs and other losses tied to such car accidents.
